Hugh thompson junior was commanding an observation helicopter circling above meli. He and his crew's job was to report enemy troop movements, serve as the eyes and ears of the attack. One day they saw a woman flailing around with gushing chest wounds. So he pops a smoke canister and throws it down to mark her location for the medic so they could help her. And a voice answers, i'll help her. Thompson and his crew watched a captain walk up, nudge the dying woman with his foot and walk away. Then the soldier turned and shot her multiple times with his rifle in the moThompson and his crew were shocked, just absolutely floored.
