Isaiah and the Babylonian Captivity in the New Testament
Isaiah prophesied over the reigns of at least four kings of the southern kingdom of Judah, Eusiah, Jothim, Ahas and Hezekiah. His ministry seems to have begun in the 740s BC, and he was active until at least the end of the 8th century. The message concerning Babylon and the return from captivity also presupposes a context of faithful opposition to idolatrous practice within the land.
