I Wanted to Be No but Mao
In 1994, when the country was going through an election, a very young, articulate former girl present of the university came down to Gudu town. He also, I discovered, was my first cousin. And so I was deeply inspired by how articulate he was,. He wore a very fine suit. He spoke impeccable English and I became his aide. From then onward, my dream changed. I wanted to be no but Mao. In fact, even sent me to school, paid my fees. AndI wanted to be a lawyer like him.
