The Role of Stem Cells in Organ Replacement
We take out all of the cells and their membranes which would normally be recognized as foreign. We replace those with the recipient's own stem cells so that it is accepted as self. The body recognizes it as part of your own body and not something foreign. So we have proved that this technology works in large animal models to the satisfaction of the regulatory authorities. And we've just received a very large graph from the Medical Research Council to do the world's first clinical trial of the stem cell based organ replacement.
