There are a lot of power dynamics that affect, for example, who got hold of the business. And if you're one of the family members who's not going to accept the toxic behavior, you might be ostracized. Armin Hammer partially funded Watergate and was pardoned by George Bush Sr. He married a wealthy woman and bought Occidental Petroleum. While he was running Occidental Petroleum, he also had a mistress. His wife found out about the mistress; instead of divorcing the wife and going with the mistress or breaking up with the mistress, he made her change her name and appearance so she could stay at the company.
