What Is the New Cooper Hewitt?
The museum originally was part of the Cooper Union. Its mandate and their idea and inspiration there was for it to be a laboratory of a museum. They were the first two women to find a museum. So that's what that meant then, experimentation which ended up in their collecting practices. What I'm interested in is what does that experimentation mean today? Like how can we be of our time to honor those ideas?
