How I Became Interested in Trauma in 1978
I got interested in trauma really in 1978 when I was teaching three-day clinical hypnosis courses. And a social worker whose name was Sarah Haley took the course and she was one of the founders of the Society for Traumatic Stress. She taught me a lot about trauma in the early days. And I taught her hypnosis. And then she gave me a number of cases to treat. The first cases of trauma that I treated were kids who were in Operation Phoenix. That was my trial by fire exposure to treating victims of extreme trauma.
