The Moas, the Great Auk, which was our Northern Hemisphere penguin, became extinct during the 1840s. It was one of those that became extinct as a result of the sort of mayhem you mentioned after Europeans arrive. But this 10,000 year period is really fascinating for the relative lack of extinctions.
