The Serious Letter to the Church
Paul writes 1 Corinthians in answer to their questions and their letter where it comes back that they have rejected it. They don't want to hear it. Paul loves this congregation. He recognizes that if he doesn't win this one, this congregation is going to be gone. And so Paul makes a trip. We call it a lightning visit,. And he lasts a day or two. And then he writes what's called the severe letter, which has been lost. That is the background to the verses we just read.
