The Emotionally Destructive Marriage

Coming from a family with the history of a mental illness. Do i have to have a relationship with my mam, even though i'm commanded to honor her? What does that look like practically? The best advice they were getting is, suffer for jesus and forgive and forget. And these women were dying inside. I was always told my grandmother had died in childbirth. But the truth was that she was depressed and never so i was writing a book on depression as well.
