Is Participating in Rituals Relevant in Child Development?

Rituals are the kind of thing that even infants are being socialized into not necessarily explicitly, but part of what people do in their community is rituals and celebrations. A ritual is anything that doesn't have that's done to show that you are a member of the group. So for example, everybody in my society uses a light switch to turn a light on and off. We all do that because we need the light to be. That's how you turn the light on. Whereas other things that are more ritualistic, there isn't necessarily a reason why you would do them that exact way.
