Is AutoML a Good Benchmark for Intelligence?

Ian Goodfellow is the co-founder and CEO of AutoML, a machine learning company. He says he would be really impressed if an AI system was able to do something that doesn't take a lot of glue from human engineers. What do you think is a good test for intelligence in your view? I'm more of saying if something knows how to preprocess the data so that it successfully accomplishes the task, then it would be very hard to argue that it doesn't truly understand the task In some fundamental sense.
