Lance Roberts: The thing that causes the market to go down materially is not priced in. Earnings estimates are still going up, and they've only recently started coming down. But those have got come down 15 to 20 % before you get through a recessionary period. So all of a sudden, that forward p e is not nearly as cheap as you think it is. And so the problem is always s the problem with four pes is they're based on operating earnings.
