The author grew up in Ireland, but moved to Florida when she was 11. She says the country's values made it hard for her to leave home and find a new life. But after years of living on the streets she became pregnant by an older boy. The pair had sex before he could tell his mother or father about their relationship. After leaving florida i went back to michigan where I lived with my parents until they were able to send me away at age 16. And that has been one of most difficult things ever since then.
