The Presumptive Diagnosis of Vipit

The confirmatory diagnosis of Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia is made by testing for antibodies against platelet factor IV. If you have presumptive or confirmed Vipit on your hands, call a hematologist or thrombosis specialist. Patients should not get platelets because we think that might make things worse.
