im just fascinated by what you write about the volunteer militia movement in ireland. The dicotomy of protestant landowners who had settled in ireland, and then the catholic majority. And i'm wondering how that kind of played out during the american revolution. There were ancestral antagonisms that people had grown up with. But some of those divides started to be surmounted. That in several areas there is evidence of widespread irish catholic integration into the volunteers,. serving alongside the protestants.
