The History of Cacao

Cacao was first cultivated, not by Mayans, but by the Olmecs. And there's even evidence on a pottery jar from like 500 CE found in Guatemala that has hieroglyphs that indicate cacao. It was picked up by the toll text between the 10th and 12th centuries. Then finally by the Aztecs from the 12th centuries until the Spanish conquistadors arrived in the mid 1500s to destroy everything.
