The Great Comet of the Aztecs
Hernand cortez was 22 years old when he boarded a ship bound for the caribbean. In that exact same year, an especially bright comet was observed all over the world. Civilizations from both hemispheres recorded descriptions of it. The study of the heavens was intrinsicallyin to the aztec religion. They believed they could discern meaning and symbolism from what was happening far away in the vacuum of space.
