CHAPTER

The Importance of Transference in Clinical Work

The patient cannot remember the solutions they came to to life's problems in childhood, but they enact those solutions. These predictions derive from their primary object relationships. And so looking at the enactment of transference in this broad way, we try to bring to the patient's attention how they are going about meeting this need and problematizing it. It's not a radical revolution in psychoanalysis. We're building upon what we learned over the hundred years before neuropsychoanalysis. So any help that we can get, we gratefully accept.
