The Power and Limits of Hellenic Philosophy
The career of Origen shows us both the power and limitations of Hellenic philosophy. He was tortured during the persecution of Decius, around 250 AD, and died shortly thereafter. There were also limits to how much Hellenic philosophy a man like Origen could accept. But figures like Erenaeus, Clement, and Origen only begin to show us what Christianity will mean for the history of philosophy.
