Introduction
Louis Oriash is a designer advocate for Figma. He has spent the last two and a half years learning how to use variables in design systems. His advice: Play around, take your existing work and try to retrospectively build the variables to support it. The common thread that I do see is people mostly copying publicly available systems which is great but also problematic because they have figured it out for their company.
