Chen Shui Bien's Early Life
The son of poor parents, Chen Shui Bien had only a few years education at elementary school. He didn't need to do the usual military service because he couldn't properly extend his arm. His family was not political, including young Abian. But there's some political history in the local water. Four kilometers from his village is the town of Mado. It's a town with a lot of history, a history of resistance.
