How to Understand the Behavior of Politicians?

Politicians don't think they're evil. Maybe some of them do, but they don't Think they're evil,. So we can't just use the evil framework to try and understand politicians behavior. If you are trying to win powering and contest against some one else, is alwas to tring to win power. The wayth t you get them, of course, is by getting public support. You need to be popular. And so the usual public choice story is that politicians, in order to get these jobs, have to win this intense competition.
