The Danube and the Roman Empire
There's a period from the 330s onwards of very close relations between particularly these Tovindi Goths and the Roman world. And in that era cross-border contact is intense. Roman coinage is found on every Gothic site from that era. The Danube has a lot of very marshy, delta type areas at this point. It's not a huge, clear flowing river, which is created by modern Rhine mechanics. So it was very easy to go across.
