Why Are These Forecasts So Wrong?
In 1980, I was bored enough to make a 20-year out forecast for the number of cell phones in the U.S. The AT&T decided to divest the cell phone business in the early 80s based on this expensive study they'd paid for. And many people don't remember, cell phones had handset cords in 1980. When we lose yesterday's technology to make tomorrow's forecast, you're bound to get the kind of errors.
