Even from Luther, you can see it's not that simple. Luther is bucking against it to some extent. And when we move forward into other reforms, as time goes by, they become more and more aware - sometimes more so than Luther. Many good scholars like Todd Billings and Julie Canlis have done some outstanding work showing Calvin has a very emphatic doctrine of participation.
