As a freelancer or start in your business, you can't keep giving away things for free. This is my fee. I am worth it and this is what I'm going to charge. Send the email first and then have the conversation because if you actually write it down, you won't back away. And yes, sometimes you won't get that job because you asked for something and they weren't prepared to pay but it's much better than doing all that work for free.
