The Jews of Thessalonians received knowledge that, hey, we know where Paul and Silas have gone. At this point, you see Paul heading away from his companions and he heads to Athens. They head out and when they say they're going to Athens, well, Athens is one of the wonders of the ancient world. And although at the time of Paul, it's in a state of decline.
