The Silver Thames
Before the 1800s, London had a brick sewer system that had been constructed in the 17th century. The old wooden pipes were being replaced by more efficient iron pipes which channeled more waste into the River Thames. A new hot trend that was sweeping the city, flushing toilets, really blasts it through. So now a lot more effluence. Ooh. It was going. Yes. You know what we mean. But don't you get it twisted? It's tense.
