COP 27 left science journalists with any sense that we have any hope of keeping warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. "I hesitate to make any kinds of predictions about the future but I do think that the window for 1.5 C is pretty much closed at this point" But it's not as though climate change is completely out of our hands either, he says.
In a UN-brokered agreement, more than 190 countries agreed to pay for “loss and damage” caused by climate change. But determining who owes what — and for what and to whom — will be a real challenge.
