Ishi was a major draw at the Museum of Anthropology in San Francisco. He worked part-time as a janitor, and did demonstrations of Yahi culture on Sundays. The newspapers told Ishi's story as if he'd time traveled from the stone age to the modern world. "It seems like he adapted unbelievably quickly," says John Sutter.
