The Night of the Cops

Merchant Gabriel Diosuet said that the night was quote, the coldest one we've had for 36 years. The weather's still bad the next day. It snows that night. So now there's a foot or so of snow on the ground on December 16th. And around 9 p.m. the next day, two cops, two, they're kind of cops. They're watch, they're watch cops. For fires. One looks up to the top floor of a five-story building at 25 Merchant Street. Inside a gas pipe has ruptured and somehow lit coals that have been left on a stove.
