Aquinas' Argument for God's Existence
Aquinas doesn't start from a definition of God at all. He thinks that we can't really get an adequate definition of God's essence. Instead, Aquinas reasons from effect to cause. Is this a good argument? No. But why is it a bad argument? You might say it's because we can't reason from effects to causes in the first place.
