CHAPTER

The Different Types of Non-Cognitiveists

A non-cognitiveist is an anti-realist that believes that moral claims don't have truth value. They're not capable of being true or false, so we would typically say that they're not truth apt. There are different accounts for what they do mean instead of expressing something that could be true or false. The classical version is emotivism, which basically just says that when people say something like murder is wrong, what they're really doing is they're just expressing an emotion.
