The original hotel California is a cruise ship. It's a petri dish for Noravirus which I already get from having my kid and group daycare. The main guy Aubrey is based on this guy Thomas Cochran who lived from 1775 to 1860. At least one or two of the major events in this story are definitely based on stuff that he did.
