The Importance of Context in the Human Brain
In the context of holding a 5 pound weight, all you need to add is 0.5 pounds to notice it. If you were holding a 30 pound weight, that 10% becomes 3 pounds. At some small number, at some low baseline, Weber's law no longer applies. For example, going from a task taking 30 minutes in 5 seconds is totally imperceptible to us.
