The Story Prompt - A Book Review
A 30-minute session in which students learned that lots of people struggle academically at first, relatively low grades like the 2.0, but then improve their grades. We showed them video taped interviews of four upper class students who conveyed the message about grade improvement. The results indicated that the story prompt worked. Compared to a randomly assigned control group of students who didn't get any information about the grade improvements, those who got the story prompt achieved better grades in the following year and were less likely to drop out.
