Is Trump's Rise to Power a Death Rattle?

I have long felt that, and I'm sure many have expressed this, that Trump's rise to power as the voice of the Republican Party is the death rattle of this generational thinking. But it predates him and it centers around an older, wider America suddenly coming to terms with their losing their grip on power by electing Barack Obama. And we don't just end up in essentially, like, some kind of civil war, a race-based sort of war here, because like, what's the logical end of that?
