Lacan is theorizing language again, and he's theorizing it as a differential system of signifiers. When you look up any word in the dictionary, you're going to see a lot of different signifiers. This is Caesarea linguistics. It's Lacan adapting this, and it's something that many of you have probably already heard before. The subject is constantly cast out and thrown under the differential system known as language.
