Back in the days of dial up internet, the ISPs would have something called like a PRI line. A PRI is just a type of T1 Allen that has 24 channels each or 64K. It's easy from a modern perspective to think that the issue was not bandwidth back then. The last BBS before everything just kind of went full internet for me that I used was one called Open Windows in Charleston, South Carolina.
