The Importance of Election in Scripture

This is one of those texts that's used often to defend the idea of double predestination. It can be understood in such a way to mean for lack of a better term selection and specifically selection for the way God is going to bring about his eternal plan of salvation. And so in that context, when he says Jacob, I loved, but he saw I hated, he is not talking about Jacob, I saved and he saw I damned,. But he's rather talking aboutJacob, I elevated or I favored for working out my plan, whereas he saw I did not.
