Kanye announced that he's no longer making secular music, which is a term I heard a lot as a kid. Evangelicals kind of embraced Kanye in this period. Some were obviously skeptical based on him being a black person in his general past. But overall, people were happy to have kind of, to use him as a token figure almost.
