Iambic Pentameter
blank verse is a kind of nice variation on iambic pentameter. It avoids the tyranny and the sing songness of rhyme, it gives us that cadence. You're still in a familiar world where there is some control that the poet is exerting but it's not they're not locked into having end rhymes.
