The Importance of Boundaries in Therapy
You've got to always keep in mind that anything that you reveal about yourself has to be a service of patient, not just because you want to make a better patient. You can never have an intimate romantic relationship with a patient no matter how long ago they were your patient. That is a violation as an example. And then there are things like boundary crossings where sometimes in the interest of the therapeutic alliance, we may use a little bit of tasteful self disclosure. So I think it's very, very complicated.
