Bentham's text is really a defence of utilitarianism from a series of different attacks. He doesn't do generalized, in general, the pleasures of sense arare going to be inferior to the pleasures of skill for instance. And i don't think it's just because there'r so many different kinds of pleasures and we need to do this calculation individually. I think he's just abandoning that pseudo mathematical approach.
