Clive Davis - The First Album Deal

Clive Davis was famous for meddling with the music of artists. He always wanted a single of every album you wanted to make sure that it was commercial in his eyes. Clive would even have his own people do edits, some of which worked well and some of which sounded absolutely horrible. But he knew what he was doing. He had the ear for hits. You really did. So you would listen to him. The first album deal much to Russ Regan's chagrin, I think, was just a single album deal so we were free to go to anyone.
