The Importance of Universal Icons

The heart symbol in itself can sometimes be controversial. I remember when Twitter changed from the star symbol to the heart symbol for likes and people were upset because they didn't love what they were marking. They were just trying to remember it. It implied suddenly the heart implied a response to the content. Whereas before the star was considered, was more attached to, to favorite, which was called back then. Whereas the heart meant expressing a like. So, they're very two different, they're two different features. If you've ever tested anything with children, they don't necessarily have the same understanding of these universal icons as us.
