Facebook's Failure to Protect User Privacy and Security
For more than a decade, Facebook kept the facial recognition tech in play. The company at that point freshly renamed as meta announced that it would drop the feature and claimed it would also delete its database of images used to help identify people. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton actually told meta not to delete the facial recognition data because his office was in the middle of an investigation into the company's biometric data collection practices.
