The Holiness of God in the Satan
I remember him suggesting a couple of alternative readings of this passage. He said there might be a case that when God's if you like power rests upon someone, they can use it in ways that aren't necessarily mandated by God. Another thought he had was what if actually, rather than God judging these people and doing the killing, it's Satan. It's the power of evil that has been let into their lives.
