The Manor House and Its Importance
The noble classes owned huge swathes of land that had been passed down from generation to generation over hundreds of years in the last millennium. As Britain became stronger, and at the height of its powers, these noble classes were making just unfathomable amounts of money. And so what did they do with it? They built more and more bigger and better, more opulent houses. The aristocracy didn't actually have options in what they wanted to do.
